Fable from the United States
There was a little frog who had a big mouth. One day she looked at her bowl of flies and said: “I am tired of eating flies! I eat flies in the morning, I eat flies for lunch and I eat flies in the evening. I am tired of it! I want to eat something else !”
So, she decided to go see what other animals eat. Hop, hop, hop, she jumped and arrived at a farm. At the farm, she saw a hen.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I am a hen,” the hen answered.
“What do you eat?” asked the little frog.
“I eat worms. Do you want to try?” answered the hen.
“Eww! It’s good for you but not for me,” answered the little frog.
And hop, hop, hop, she jumped away and saw a horse.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I am a horse,” the horse answered.
“What do you eat?” asked the little frog.
“I eat hay. Do you want to try?” answered the horse.
“Eww! It’s good for you but not for me,” answered the little frog.
And hop, hop, hop, she jumped away and saw a pig.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I am a pig,” the pig answered.
“What do you eat?” asked the little frog.
“I eat shoes. Do you want to try?” answered the pig.
“Eww! It’s good for you but not for me.” answered the little frog.
And hop, hop, hop, she jumped away and saw a snake.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I am a snake.” the snake answered.
“What do you eat?” asked the little frog.
“I eat little frogs with big mouths,” answered the snake.
“Oh!” said the little frog, making her mouth as small as possible.
“There are no little frogs with big mouths here. Maybe over there?”
And hop, hop, hop, she quickly jumped home. Pfewwww! Finally, she prefers eating flies!
