The Genie in the Bottle
A man was walking through a forest. He was tired so he sat under a tree to rest.
Near the tree was a big bush. The man heard a strange whistle. The strange whistle was coming from the bush. The man stood up and he went to the bush. Under the bush, on the ground, the man saw a bottle. The strange whistle was coming from inside the bottle.
The man picked up the bottle and he opened it to look inside. Suddenly a lot of black smoke came out from the bottle. And the black smoke transformed into a genie. The genie was very big and he was very tall. He was as big and as tall as an elephant.
The man looked at the genie and the man was scared.
The genie had a very large and horrible face. He had enormous red eyes and he had a very large mouth. And his very large mouth was full of long and pointy teeth. The genie didn’t have hair, he didn’t have a nose and he didn’t have a beard. But he had two very large and pointy red ears. And he had large golden earrings in his very large and pointy ears.
The man looked at the genie’s face and he was very scared.
The genie shouted: “Give me some work to do or I will eat you up!”
The man was frightened. He asked the genie: “Why… why would you eat me up?”
The genie shouted: “Why? Because you have opened the bottle! Now you have to give me work to do! Give me some work to do or I will eat you up!”
The man asked the genie: “What… what kind of work do you want to do?”
The genie shouted: “Any kind of work! I must keep working. I must keep working day and night. If I ever stop working, I will eat you up! Now, give me some work to do or I will eat you up!”
The man wanted to go back to his house. “Take me to my house,” said the man. The genie picked up the man. In a second they arrived at the door of the man’s house.
Again the genie shouted: “Give me some work to do or I will eat you up!”
The man had a very old and tiny house. “Build me a big and magnificent palace,” said the man to the genie. In two minutes the palace was built. It was a big and magnificent palace.
Again the genie shouted: “Give me some work to do or I will eat you up!”
The man was poor. “Give me a large chest full of money,” said the man to the genie. In a second a big chest full of money magically appeared in front of the man.
Again the genie shouted: “Give me some work to do or I’ll eat you up!”
The man had horrible clothes. “Give me beautiful clothes.” said the man to the genie. In one second the genie brought beautiful clothes to the man. He brought a beautiful hat, he brought a beautiful jacket, he brought a beautiful shirt, he brought a beautiful pair of pants and he brought a beautiful pair of shoes.
Again the genie shouted: “Give me some work to do or I’ll eat you up!”
The man was very hungry. “Give me a table full of delicious food,” said the man to the genie. In a second a very large table full of delicious food magically appeared in front of the man. Lobsters, caviar, exotic fruits, cakes, all kinds of cheese, all kinds of ice cream, giant shrimps, oysters… The table was full of all kinds of delicious food.
The man was very hungry so he tried to eat the delicious food but the genie shouted again: “Give me some work or I’ll eat you up.”
The man kept on and on and on giving work to the genie.
He was very tired but he couldn’t find the time to sleep in his magnificent palace.
“Give me some work or I’ll eat you up!” kept shouting the genie.
The man wanted to spend his money but he couldn’t find the time to do it.
“Give me some work or I’ll eat you up!” kept shouting the genie.
He wanted to wear his beautiful clothes but he couldn’t find the time to do it.
“Give me some work or I’ll eat you up,” kept shouting the genie.
The man was very hungry but he couldn’t find the time to eat the delicious food that was on the table.
“Give me some work to do or I’ll eat you up,” kept shouting the genie.
The man was sad. He was sad because he was so desperate. He was tired but how could he sleep? How could he spend his money? How could he wear his beautiful clothes? He was hungry but how could he eat the delicious food on the table? He couldn’t find the time to enjoy all these things because the genie kept shouting: “Give me some work to do or I’ll eat you up.”
Then the man had an idea. He had a brilliant idea.
The man said to the genie, “Build me a very high tower. Build me a tower as high as the sky.”
In just one minute the genie built a very high tower. He built a tower as high as the sky.
“I have built the tower. I’ve built a tower as high as the sky,” said the genie to the man. “Now give me some work to do or I’ll eat you up.”
“Now listen! Listen carefully,” said the man to the genie. “Climb up the tower till you reach the top. And then climb down the tower till you reach the ground. Then climb up the tower again till you reach the top and then climb down the tower again till you reach the ground. Keep on climbing up and down the tower till I tell you to stop. Don’t stop climbing up and climbing down the tower till I tell you to stop.”
The genie was very happy. He was very happy because he had a lot of work to do. He climbed up the tower and when he reached the top of the tower he climbed down the tower till he reached the ground. He went up the tower and he came down the tower. He went up and he came down. The genie kept going up and down the tower.
The man was happy because he had a brilliant idea. For five minutes he watched the genie going up and down the tower. And for five minutes he was happy. Then the man went inside his magnificent palace. He put on his beautiful clothes and he ate the delicious food on the table. Then he went to sleep.
The next morning the man woke up and went outside. He saw the genie going up and down the tower again. The genie kept climbing up and down the tower. The man was very happy.
One day passed. Two days passed. Three days passed. The genie kept climbing up and down the tower. A week passed. The genie kept climbing up and down the tower. Two weeks passed. Three weeks passed. The genie kept climbing up and down the tower. A month passed and the genie kept climbing up and down the tower.
The man was very happy. He could sleep in his magnificent palace, he could eat his delicious food, he could spend all his money and he could put on his beautiful clothes. He had all the time to do all these things.
But the genie was a little tired. He was tired of going up and down the tower. He had been going up and down the tower for one month. He was really tired.
“Please sir, can I stop now? I have been going up and down the tower for a month now. I am really tired.” said the genie to the man.
“You can’t stop till I tell you to stop. So keep on going up and down the tower.”
Another three months passed. Now the genie was exhausted. He couldn’t go up and down the tower anymore. He was really exhausted.
“Please, sir! I can’t go up and down the tower anymore. I’m really exhausted. I need to stop going up and down the tower,” said the genie to the man.
The man looked at the genie. He saw that the genie was really exhausted. He saw that the genie couldn’t go up and down the tower anymore.
“You can stop going up and down the tower on one condition.” said the man to the genie.
“On what condition?” asked the genie.
“You must pick up the tower and you must go away from here and you must never come back.” said the man to the genie.
“I promise! I promise! I promise to pick up the tower, I promise to go away from here and I promise to never come back!” shouted the genie to the man.
“Perfect! Stop going up and down the tower. Pick up the tower, go away from here and never come back.”
The genie picked up the tower, went away and he never came back.
The man was very happy. He had a magnificent palace. He had a chest full of money. He had beautiful clothes and he had delicious food. And he had time to enjoy all these things.
