The Toolkit lists ways to target structures to make messages comprehensible. Use of the Toolkit is Targeting 2. Beginning learners need more support from the Toolkit and advanced learners need less.
If used appropriately, the Toolkit “generally results in partial acquisition…The goal is comprehension of the story or activity, not full acquisition of the rule in a short time” (Krashen 2017).
